Cannabis and psychedelics have been used by mankind for millennia. Renowned Soviet archaeologist Viktor Sarianidi excavated Bronze Age temple complexes dating back to 2000-1700 BC in the Bactria–Margiana Archaeological Complex (Turkmenistan/Afghanistan) where he found special ritual vessels, pressing tools, and altars that chemical and botanical residue analysis showed contained traces of ephedrine, cannabis, and poppy. Priests consumed Soma to experience immortality, divine ecstasy and cosmic vision.
